A Tour Around Pink Lemonade Boutique

Well since I work in silks and other fabrics I was of course really excited to visit Lisa’s studio~ In case you do not know Lisa, she is the brain behind Pink Lemonade Boutique. I was so excited to see all the fabrics that I forgot that I was there to blog! hahahha.

So lets get to it shall we. First off I would find it hard to pick out a fabric, as they are all so gorgeous and beautiful. Lisa starts with choosing a design to pair with a fabric choice. Here is what one of the designs would look like:

To me this makes not a whole lot of sense….since I only work with squares and this is…well…not a square. I think it would be really hard to come up with these designs and I imagine lots of trials and errors to make the perfect pattern – which Lisa makes look really easy!

Lisa then cuts the fabric and begins sewing! I try to stay away from fast moving pointy objects, but to Lisa this is everyday. While she started sewing I was imagining sewing my hand to the fabric. Lisa kept telling me it wasnt that scary, but I was not about to try…yet alone ruin some awesome fabric!

So after a bit of sewing Lisa has the start of a zipper pouch. Here is some of the progression:

And its done! Hahaha. Lisa is very meticulous and stresses over every stitch. The finished product though shows her quality of work. For instance take a look at this bag (and all the fabric!). Not only is the color choice very beautiful but look at that hand stitching on the right!

I asked Lisa how long it took to finish that embroidery and she said that she lost count. Hhaha.  This is one of my most favorite bags. Its one of a kind in that even if she decided to remake this bag the embroidery would be different.

It is almost like you are getting a piece of her soul. Each stitch made during a specific time in her life, her happiness, frustration, joy, and excitment in every stitch. Can one get that out of a designer hand bag? I dont think so.  When you buy handmade you truely are buying not only a work of art but a small piece of the artist, and who wouldnt want to own a purse this beautiful.

Lisa is also very excited since she is going to be published in a book! Shes an avid quilter and I think we all look forward to seeing her quilts and learning a bit more about her in the book! Ill end with a picture of Lisa sewing!

Look forward to items in Lisa’s shop and be sure to visit frequently! I hope you enjoyed this tour and by the way I think you need a new spring purse~
